As part of The White House Historical Association’s holiday activities, an open house will be held on Sunday, December 13 from 10 am until 3 pm at the historic Decatur House in Washington, D. C. The Decatur House dates back to the early 1800’s and over the years has been home to many dignitaries. According to their website, the house also contains one of only a few remaining examples of slave quarters in an urban setting.
Tours of the house will be available and a special holiday exhibit, White House Gingerbread: Holiday Traditions, will be only display. A previous member of our club, Jennie Lewis, participated in the decorations for the exhibit and will be at the Decatur House that day. Jennie is a very talented floral designer.
