Our September meeting is a trip to Shore Thing Shellfish in Tall Timbers, MD. Sandy Hixson, a member of our club, planned this trip for us. We have a bus which will leave Walmart lower parking lot on Thursday, September 26, promptly at 8:30 a.m.
Shore Thing LLC started in 2011 with the goal of growing sustainable oysters using the most environmentally friendly practices possible. Mandy Burch, our leader for the trip, is an environmentalist, has been involved in wetland restoration, was an environmental educator for St. Mary’s County schools and has worked with starting oyster hatcheries.
We will have lunch at Chief’s restaurant in Tall Timbers, so you do not need to bring bag lunch. We have space available for more people on the bus. If you have not signed up and would like to attend, please call me by Sunday, September 15. I will be in Rehoboth Beach until the trip so please contact me by email or cell phone, (both in garden club book). You can pay $5 when you board the bus.
The following people have paid for the trip. If you are on this list and cannot make it, please call me so that we don’t wait for you.
Wade, Mary Ann
P.S. since I wrote this memo I have talked to Chief’s Restaurant. It is a very small restaurant with a big reputation for good food! They claim to have the best stuffed ham in Maryland! We have a reservation for noon on 26th but I have to give them a count on 16th. They are forwarding me the menu which I will send out. Thanks
Enjoy this beautiful weather and I will see you on the 26th!
Mary Ann Wade
