Tackling Large Environmental Questions
How Do We Tackle Large Environmental Questions? Presented by Dr. Walter BoyntonTuesday, October 24
Are the nutrients nitrogen and phosphorous a problem in the Chesapeake Bay, and if so, do we need to control one or both? What caused the massive decline of seagrasses in the 1970s? And, why should we care so much about tidal marshes and other wetlands in the Bay system? Drawing on experiences from his distinguished 42 year career at CBL, Dr. Boynton will describe how scientists investigate large-scale environmental issues. He will also discuss how scientists, managers, and citizens have, and must continue to, come together to solve complex challenges facing our Bay.
Date: October 24, 2017
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Location: Chesapeake Biological Laboratory
Address: 142 Williams Street, Solomons, MD 20688

I'm touching base with you to let you know about a local flower grower event that I thought you may want to know about. And to ask for help in publicizing the event.
The event will be on September 12 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church, 9601 Cedar Lane, Bethesda MD 20814 and is organized by the Independent Floral Designers Association (www.MyIFDA.com/grower-event) as a fund raiser for their educational floral programs.
The event will feature eight local flower growers who will have their fall harvest on display and for sale. There will be floral design demonstrations from the stage and a silent auction of those designs. Attendees will be offered refreshments, swag bags, a chance to win raffle prizes - all with a floral focus.
We invite you to attend and ask that you help us spread the word.
If you are interested I can send you: Facebook and Instagram ready info-graphics, event flyer and group registration form - for your convenience.
Details of the event, a registration form and group discount registration form can be found at: www.MyIFDA.com/grower-event
For conversation or more information about the event please contact me - Dottie@Flowerhandlers.com 301-249-1669.
Thank you for your consideration.
I hope everyone is having an enjoyable and productive Summer! Our August meeting is coming up soon and I think you will like it! It will be another Make and Take with Cathy York. She says we will make a Summer flower bouquet that is 'out of the ordinary!!" Sounds interesting!
We are trying to determine the number of members and guests who will participate, so please email Mary Beth at email@example.com if you plan to make a bouquet. Our meeting will be Thursday, August 24, at 7:00 at the Fire Hall and the cost of the bouquet is $10.00 per person. We are prepared for up to 50 people but we need for you to sign up.
I hope to see everyone at the meeting.
